Boolean logic
Boolean logic refers to a type of logic that is based on values that compromise of either "true" or "false" solutions. In the digital world, a boolean value can be translated from a true or false entity and instead represented with a 1 or 0. Generally a true = 1, and false = 0. Boolean values can be placed into a function, such as an AND function, and combined in a similarly fashion as would a
Logic Gate to result in an answer. Boolean functions can be performed using logic gates with voltage levels representing true or false values, or these functions can take place internally to a software program using boolean algebraic functions. In software, a variable that is defined as a boolean number can only have two possible values: a 1 or a 0. Sometimes these are referred at as "true" and "false".
